Sensors
We used in our research two motion sensors:
Microsoft Kinect
We developed a patch in Max MSP Jitter that segments the movements from the displacement data of each joint captured by the Kinect sensor. It also qualifies the gestures from descriptors such as: total displacement, displacement module, duration, sum of the mean values of the acceleration curve, etc.
Inertial Measurement Unit(UMI)
We developed a wearable device with a coupled Inertial Measurement Unit (UMI) and developed a patch in the Max Msp Jitter software that segments the movements from the module data resulting from the acceleration of the device. It also qualifies the gestures from descriptors such as: angular velocity module, duration, Jerk, kinetic energy, etc.
